William A. Wieland


William A. Wieland, 86, of Springfield, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday November 12, 2008 in Eaglewood Care Center. He was born September 21, 1922 in Cincinnati, OH to Anthony J. and Christine (Rotz) Wieland.

Bill came to Springfield as the resident manager of the Shawnee Hotel and later established W.A. Wieland and Associates that he operated until 1998. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, the Springfield Country Club and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II.

Survivors include two children, Dr. Thomas A. (Diane) Wieland, Dublin, OH and Carol (Michael) Rittoff, Springfield, OH; a grandson, Samuel T. Wieland; and a sister, Betty (Don) Karches, Cincinnati, OH.

His wife of 58 years, Marjorie A. on August 2, 2008 and a sister, Mary Carroll, preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Teresa Church with the family receiving friends one-hour prior in the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Welfare League.

Conroy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
