Vernie Williams


Vernie Williams, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2008 in the Southbrook Care Center.

He was born on November 9, 1925 in Peebles, Ohio the son of Elmer and Thelma (Johnson) Williams.

He retired from OS Kelly as an Inspector after many years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Opal (Mace) Williams of Springfield; two daughters, Evelyn Cooper of South Charleston, and Jeanne Anderson of Springfield; three sons: John, Fred, and Dave Williams; three sisters: Leana Mae Horne, Kathleen Chaffin, and Jessie Pollitt, one brother, Elijah Williams, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and special great grandson, Donald Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Steve Lovejoy and Bill Williams, and one brother, Willy Williams.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 6-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Services will be held on Friday at 3:00 pm in the Rose Hill Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Charles Sandlin officiating.
