William L. Rogers


William L. Rogers, 88, of Springfield died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in his home.

He was born October 14, 1919 in Springfield the son of Roy G. and Ruth Marie (Meredith) Rogers.

Mr. Rogers served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a self-employed T V repairman from 1944-1991. William was a lifetime member of Lagonda United Methodist Church, enjoyed reading and Sunday family gatherings that began after WWII and continue today.

He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of sixty-seven years Mary Jane (Rapp) Rogers; three sons and a daughter-in-law Roy C. and Martee Rogers, John R. Rogers and Richard A. Rogers, all of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law Peggy A. and Tim Adams of Macomb Township, Michigan; one sister Rachael Duer of Springfield; nine grandchildren Timothy (Lori) Rogers, Janie (Jim) Murphy, Mary M. Rogers, Jeffrey (Karen) Adams, Christopher (Susan) Adams and Eric Rogers, all of Springfield, Randy (Angie) Rogers of Dandridge, Tennessee, Michael (Angie) Rogers of Tipp City, Ohio, and Scott (Laurel) Adams of Troy, Michigan; seventeen great grandchildren Amber and Alyssa Rogers, Sydney Bates, Gregory Rogers, Jarrod, Justin and Joel Murphy, Nolan, Jacob, Maddux, Evan and Abigail Rogers, Corryn Adams, Owen Rogers, Stephen, Tyler and Emily Adams; one great great grandson Xavier White; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Rogers; two sisters Elsie Evans and Betty Rogers; two brothers-in-law Al Evans and Roy J. Duer.

Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME and for one hour prior to services in church. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM. in the Lagonda United Methodist Church with Rev. Daniel Held officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lagonda United Methodist Church or to Community Mercy Hospice.
