George Kermit Ratliff


Kermit Ratliff, 89, of Springfield passed away Wednesday morning, September 12, 2007 in the Forest Glen Health Campus.

He was born July 30, 1918, in Grundy, Virginia, the son of Silas and Pricey J. (Raines) Ratliff.

Kermit was a member of the Central Christian Church, St. John's #13 Masonic Lodge in Dayton, Scottish Rite, High Twelve secretary for 10 years and also the assistant state secretary. He was a member of the 3-C Camps during World War II and a former resident of the Ohio Masonic Home for 10 years. Kermit was a skilled craftsman, artist and owned his own barber shop for many years, but most of all he was a very caring and loving man who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of seven years, June (Petrie) Ratliff of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Larry Bistany of Ambler, Pennsylvania; one step-daughter and spouse, Judy and Richard Potts of Springfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Michelle Ratliff of Meadowview, Virginia and Jim and Catharine Ratliff of Hudson, Ohio; one step-son and spouse, John and Sandy Petrie of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Georgia Marston of Shackleford, Virginia and Mary Lois Davis of Charlottesville, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Helton, Dane, Jesse, Stephanie and Tyler Ratliff and Justin and Jessica Bistany; one great- grandson, Jeremy Helton; special niece, Eva Sexton and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dixie Ratliff in November of 1997; four sisters and six brothers.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 10 a.m.-noon in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Masonic services will start at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and the funeral services will follow with Pastor Dan Reihing officiating.

Entombment will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Crown Hill Mausoleum in Twinsburg, Ohio.
