Ethel Lena Reed


Ethel Lena Reed, 80, of Springfield passed away Monday morning, August 6, 2007 in the Forest Glen Health Campus.

She was born December 8, 1926 in Arabia, Ohio, the daughter of Cornelius Clark and Vera Ann (Matney) Nelson. She attended Waterloo High and graduated from Fredrics Beauty Academy in 1962. Ethel enjoyed work, painting, golfing and bowling. She volunteered at the IOOF Lodge and Oakwood Village. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Eagles Fedelia Arie 397, Moose Lodge Chapter 429 and IOOF Lodge Rebekah No. 12.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 50 plus years, Donald Lee Reed; two daughters and son-in-law, Venitta Jean Haythe of Springfield and Deann Lee and Joe Wick of Cable, Ohio; two sisters, Emmalee Sigler of Cincinnati, Ohio and Irene Johnson of Springfield; one brother, Wyman Edward Nelson of Springfield; three grandchildren, Bryce Haythe, Donald Haythe Jr. and Eric Lee Wick; three great grandchildren, Bryce Allan Haythe Jr., Taylor Strom Wick and Brooklyn Lee Wick and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rose Everhart and Pearl Brown; four brothers, Albert, Jefferson, Johnny and Kenneth Nelson; granddaughter, Nikki Lei and son-in-law, Donald E. Haythe.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
