Dale E. Ratliff


Dale E. Ratliff, 63, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at 3:58 AM Friday, March 20, 2009 in Community Hospital. He was born May 27, 1945 in Springfield, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Malone) Ratliff.

Dale had been the acting Marshall for the town of Coalton, Ohio, he was an umpire for the triple USSA League, he coached little league and was the kettle coordinator for the Salvation Army. He had been employed at Yost Superior for 16 years. Dale will always be remembered as a wonderful father and a very caring and giving person.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years; Carolyn (Payton) Ratliff, children; Brenda (Joe) Smith, Grantsville, West Virginia, Shiela (Gene) Walker, Springfield, Steven (Tanja) Ratliff, Tallassee, Florida, Ronald (Nicole) Ratliff, Victoria Ratliff (John Patton), and Selena all of Springfield, 16 grandchildren including special grand daughter Katelin, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one brother; Lawrence E. Ratliff Jr., Tennessee, three sisters; Ethel (Fred) Perry, Mary Ellen Davis and Nellie Ann Ratliff all of Springfield, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin; Mary Edith Rapp, Springfield.

He was preceded in death by as son; Doug Ratliff, three brothers; Tom, Joseph and Vernon and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Salvation Army Church with Major James Gingrich officiating. Burial will follow in Newcomers Cemetery.
