Roger H. Pyles


Roger H. Pyles, 85, of Springfield, died Wednesday January 9, 2008 in Community Hospital.

He was born February 7, 1922 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Kimber and Lenna (Massie) Pyles.

He served his country during WWII in the United States Army as a Tank Commander. Roger worked with Nationwide Insurance for forty years. He was Past-President and Secretary Treasurer of National Trails Lions Club, member of Anthony Lodge 455 Free and Accepted Masons and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pennie and Scott Fourman of Springfield; two sons and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Pyles of Bailey, North Carolina; Jerry Pyles of Irvington, Alabama; six grandchildren, Dee Dee Robinson, Danee` (Lee) Lemmons, Derrick (Jan) Pyles, Todd Fourman, Randy Fourman and Jeff (Alexis) Fourman; companion, Phoebe Pyles; six great-grandchildren, Travis and Matthew Lemmons; Amy and Brandon Fourman; Hunter and Angela Craft and great-great granddaughter, Skylar Craft.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty in 1990 after forty-eight years of marriage; two brothers, Harold and Thayer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday January 12, 2008, with Pastor William S. Kelley of Emery Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
