Robert D. Pitzer


Robert D. "Bob" Pitzer, 75, of Bonita Springs, Florida, Port Clinton, Ohio, and formerly of Springfield, passed away Monday evening, June 30, 2008 in Forest Glen Health Campus.

He was born in Springfield on July 1, 1932 the son of the late Marlin and Marian (Mitchell) Pitzer.

Bob was married to Geraldine (Flannery) Pitzer for 36 years. She predeceased him on September 25, 1995.

He is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Darrell Bartley of Bonita Springs, Florida, Helen and Robert Stinson of Springfield, and Sharon and Ray Stoddard of Bloomington, Indiana as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife's family: Betty Wade and her four children and Rufus and Wanda Flannery. Also surviving are many good friends including William (Bill) Dickey.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy serving for five years. He worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an electronics engineer, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed carpentry and built two houses that he and Geraldine shared. He also enjoyed hobbies of woodworking, fishing and boating.

Bob's funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Enon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
