Mary Lou Potts


Mary Lou (Worley) Potts, 72, of Springfield went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, her friend and Savior, on Monday, March 30, 2009 after a brave struggle of two years. She was born July 26, 1936 in Springfield the daughter of Harry and Rebecca (Wells) Worley.

Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who made her home and family, and her relationship with Christ her passion. She was a member of Christ Chapel Church of God, where she taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School, and was a Children's Ministry worker. She loved children and helped chaperone many of their outings and activities, and was a Pioneer Girl's Leader and 4-H Leader. Mary Lou was an avid gardener, loved dogs, and raised and showed prize winning rabbits. She loved to paint and crochet and spent endless hours crafting.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years Carl William Potts; daughter and son-in-law Candy and Dave Guyselman of Springfield; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Nita Potts of Newport News, Virginia. She was blessed with four grandchildren Rev. Jeremy (Alicia) Guyselman of Naples, Florida, Rev. Joshua (Lisa) Guyselman of Ooletewah, Tennessee, Jacob and Emily Potts of Newport News, Virginia. She has one brother Jack (Kitty) Worley of Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Charles, Robert and Richard Worley.

Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM. and for one hour prior to services in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Bernard Cook officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
