Michael L. Pendergraft


Michael (Mickey) L. Pendergraft, 60, a native of Springfield, Ohio, closed his eyes and woke up with the Lord on January 28, 2009, in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia following several years of failing health. Born the son of Wilbur and Polly Pendergraft, he retired from the U. S. Army after serving 20 years, during which time he served in Operation Desert Storm. Mickey now joins another elite group, his father, mother and youngest sister Gina, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a new duty station, Heaven. Survivors include his wife; Dale, three sons; Larry, Steve and Matthew, along with brothers; Jimmie Pendergraft and Terry Pendergraft and sisters; Linda McMurtrie, Karen Riley and Rhonda Clark, and his best friend and faithful companion; Murray his dog. Visitation was held at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth, with burial in the Albert Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia. A memorial service for all family and friends will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with visitation one hour prior to the service.
