Elva I. Penwell
Elva I. Penwell, 73, of Springfield passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Miami Shores of Moraine. She was born May 8, 1935 in Bainbridge, Ohio the daughter of Chester A. and Mildred G. (Johnson) Soales.
Elva was a 1953 graduate of Springfield High School, worked at Groeber's Lounge for over thirty years and was a member of Eagles #397 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ruthann and Dr. Craig Schaeffing of Dothan, Alabama; one son Thomas E. Penwell of Springfield; one brother Chester Soales; two sisters Sylvia Waha of New Carlisle and Dorothy Davis of Belington, West Virginia; one sister-in-law Helen Soales of Springfield; two grandchildren Kelly Kamstra of Auburn, Alabama and Lauren Kamstra of Dothan, Alabama; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Soales; two sisters Emma Mae Harrison and Helen Spicer; and a son-in-law Kenneth H. Kamstra.
The family will receive visitors Saturday from 10:30-11 AM. in the chapel at Ferncliff Cemetery. Funeral services will be held in the chapel Saturday at 11:00 AM. with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. The family is being served by the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
