Brenda Joyce Porter


Brenda Joyce Porter, 61, of Springfield died Monday, November 17, 2008 in her residence. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on January 21, 1947, the daughter of John and Helen Virginia (Lett) Clausen.

Brenda graduated in 1964 from Vinson High School and the Huntington Business College. She worked for the law firm of Tomkies and Tomkies as a legal secretary for nine years and Community Hospital in medical records for ten years.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Roger Allen Porter, whom she married August 12, 1972; two daughters Shannon M. (Christian) Thomas of St. Paris, Shelley L. (Andy) Backus of Springfield; four grandchildren Gage, Chloe, Shelbee, and Adreyan; and cousin Marilyn (Gene) McCoy of Kenova, West Virginia.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 pm in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:30 am in the Terre Haute Cemetery with Rev. Joe Dillard officiating. Memorial contributions are requested to the Ohio State University James Cancer Center.
