Virginia H. Morningstar


Virginia H. Morningstar, 88, of South Vienna went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 16, 2008.

She was born October 27, 1919 in Grape Grove, Greene County, Ohio the daughter of Ross and Ethel (Bowman) Swaney.

Virginia was a 1937 graduate of Cedarville High School and attended Springfield Business College where she met her husband, Rodger. They were married in 1940. Mrs. Morningstar worked as Clerk-Treasurer for South Vienna and at Johnson's Lamp Shop and attended the United Church of South Vienna.

She was preceded in death by a son Dale Morningstar; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Edith and Delmar Parks, Mildred Struewing, Gertrude and Russell Mull; two brothers and a sister-in-law Nathaniel and Maxine Swaney, and Eugene Swaney.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Rodger K. Morningstar; two sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Aunita Morningstar, David and Karen Morningstar, all of South Vienna; one daughter Gloria Durham of Louisville, Kentucky; six grandchildren Victor Ferguson, Tammy Fisher, Renee Wallace, Stacy Dunn, Sean Durham and Christopher Durham; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother-in-law Arthur Struewing; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with Rev. Sott Griswold officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston.

Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia's name to Community/Mercy Hospice or to the American Alzheimer's Association.
