Vivian M. Monroe


Vivian M. Monroe, 86, of Springfield, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, in Oakwood Village.

She was born in Springfield on July 25, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Roxey (Jones) Grumbley.

She retired in 1975 from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, F.O.E. #397 Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post 1031 Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons and spouses, Donald and Jean Anne Monroe, Ronald and Marcia Monroe and James and Sara Monroe all of Springfield; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Miller of Springfield, Theresa West of Columbus and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, James in 1985, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday in Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be held in Mount Union Cemetery, Pliny, West Virginia. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
