Ronald L. Messer


Ronald L. Messer, 67, of Springfield, passed away at 5:15 PM Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Mercy St. John's Center. He was born March 30, 1941, in Springfield, the son of Arthur and Mildred (LeValley) Messer.

Mr. Messer was retried from SPECO following 33 years of service and had worked at Community Hospital for 9 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed square dancing.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years; Vella (Scaggs) Messer, two children; Kelly Messer and Michael (Carolyn) Messer all of Springfield, four grandchildren; Annalee, Kaitlyn Brandon and Courtney, three great grandchildren; Chloe, Kamdyn and Kileigh, one sister; Geraldine (Chester) Baughman, Springfield, two half sisters; Jeanette Runkle, Springfield and Janet Ilges, Tremont City and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private funeral services were held in Rose Hill Chapel with burial following in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Arrangements were handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
