Roy J. McNutt


Roy J. McNutt 83, of Springfield, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center.

Roy was born August 29, 1924, in Springfield, the son of the late Roy McNutt, Sr. and Anna May Patton.

Roy was a World War II Veteran of the US Army who fought in the second wave of the battle of Normandy. He retired after 35 years with International Harvester Company where he was a long time committeeman with the UAW Local 402. Roy also worked for eight years as a bus driver for the Clark County Joint Vocational School. He was an avid golfer and loved to play cards and watch NASCAR and Cincinnati Reds baseball games on TV. He was a member of the VFW Post 1031, the Union Club, and Locust Hills Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife Susan McNutt, whom he married 61 years ago on June 16, 1946. He will also be sadly missed by his two sons: Roy McNutt III, of Chillicothe, Douglas R. (Michelle) McNutt of So. Vienna; and three daughters Linda McNutt of Plain City, Cheryl M. (John) Davey of Springfield, Vicki L. (Gary) Freshcorn of Ridgeway. Roy also had ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A gathering of friends and family will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIALHOME. Services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in the memorial home with Rev. William Stout officiating. Burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
