Robert W. McClure, Sr.


Robert W. McClure, Sr., 81, of Mad River Township, Springfield, Ohio died Sunday, December 14, 2008 in Oakwood Village. He was born in Clark County, Ohio on October 11, 1927, the son of Waldo and Lucy (Miller) McClure.

Bob served his country during World War II in the US Army. He was a 1945 graduate of Enon High School. Bob was a 50 year member and Past Master of Yellow Springs Masonic Lodge #421 F & AM and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Antioch Chapter #455 and later the Aldora Chapter #262, where he was a Past Worthy Patron. Bob's other Masonic bodies include the Springfield Council #17 RSM and Springfield Chapter #48 RAM. He was also a member of the Clark County Farm Bureau. Bob was a lifelong farmer in Clark County, retired machinist and served as a Mad River Township Trustee for 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers in law Dorothy (Thomas) Thompson and Marjorie (Richard) Littler; brothers and sister in law James and Don (Ruth) McClure.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Marjorie A. (Day) McClure, whom he married May 6, 1950; one daughter Darlene K. McClure of Beavercreek; one son Robert W. McClure, Jr. of Springfiled; sister in law Mary McClure of Springfield; three grandchildren Robert W. McClure, III, Molly J. (Dan) Stitzel, and Ryan McClure; one great-granddaughter Averi Jean Stitzel; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank, Dr. Sally Abbott and the staff of Oakwood Village for their wonderful care, including Tina, Tim, Mary Beth, and Lou.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, with Masonic memorial services at 8:00 PM. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM in the memorial home. Burial to follow in Enon Cemetery.
