Peggy D. McHenry


Peggy D. McHenry, 81, of Springfield, passed away at 6:22 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008 in Community Hospital. She was born December 13, 1927 in London, Ohio, the daughter of Edgar and Mildred (Steinberger) Baughn.

Peggy was a Charter Member of Faith In Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Sewing and Service Circle at the church, the Loyal Followers of Christ (LFC) and was active with the Bereavement Committee. She was retired from AT&T following 39 years of service and was a member of the Pioneers Club of AT&T.

Survivors include four children; Mark (Mary) Adkins, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Debra (Carl) Shaffer, Springfield, Jacqueline (Bruce) Reye, Urbana, Angelia (Tony) Rogers, Springfield, grandchildren; Maria and Martin Adkins, Danielle Romine, Andy Sneed, Dustin and Jeremy Wagner, Chris Reye, Amanda Raveaux, Emily and Nicholas Rogers, great grandchildren; Rob Berkshire II, Savannah and Ty Romine and Luke Adkins, one sister; Rose-Mary Dutton, Springfield, one sister in law; Betty Hollingsworth, Springfield, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin McHenry on November 13, 1999, two sisters; Suzanne Runyon and Martha Voorhees, one brother; David Duncan and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday in Faith In Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Lee and Pastor Bruce Reye officiating. Additional visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
