Leslie R. Mershon


Leslie R. Mershon, 80 of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the Eaglewood Care Center.

He was born on January 14, 1928 in Otway, Ohio the son of Leslie and Ora (Riley) Mershon.

He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. Leslie retired from Teamsters in 1984 and was a Truck Driver for Kenosha Auto Transport. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 397 Aerie, the Union Club, and the Teamsters Retiree Club. Leslie attended the High Street Church of the Nazarene. Leslie loved his family and had a great love for all animals, especially horses and dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Janice (Eichenlaub) Mershon of Springfield, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Vern Stegall, one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jan Mershon all of Springfield; three grandchildren: Randy Stegall and his wife Lisa of Sidney; Shelby and Danyel Mershon of Springfield; two great grandchildren, Nichole and Taylor Stegall; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kathryn Mershon of Plain City, one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Bennie Davis of Richmond, Ohio, special nephew, Ed Mershon and his wife Barb of Plain City; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Wells and Eileen Miller of Otway, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Jimmy and two sisters, Jean and Mary Margaret.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 12-3 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with services to begin following visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Brett Layton of the High Street Church of the Nazarene officiating. Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family at Rose Hill Mausoleum.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to caregivers at Eaglewood Care Center and Rockway-Springfield Township #3 Paramedics. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Township Fire/EMS 2777 Springfield-Xenia Rd., Springfield, OH 45506.
