Kenneth McGillivray


Kenneth "Brandy" McGillivray, 81, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Saturday August 23, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 11, 1927 in Jackson, Ohio the son of the late Dewey & Delcie (Albert) McGillivray.

He enlisted before he graduated from Lawrenceville High School in the U.S. Navy serving with the Navy CB's in WWII in Guam & Saipan. He was a retired machinist and maintenance from Dresser Air Tool, Springfield. He was a Charter Member of German Township Fire Department and member of the American Legion Post #286. He loved playing cards, outdoors and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Roach, married September 3, 1948; his children, two daughters, Denise Lobeck of Springfield, Aletha & Michael Leiter of Kettering, Ohio; grandchildren, Dawn & Ronnie White of Springfield, Derek Lobeck and fiancée Tiffany Brown of Urbana, Ohio, Christopher Hanselman of Kettering, Abbie Hanselman of Centerville, Ohio; great grandchildren, Kelcee Renee and Evan Michael White; grandpa's little protector, Mandi; a brother, Harold & Dorthy McGillivray of West Liberty, Ohio, two sisters, Donna & Robert Erlewine of Springfield, Jane & Robert Lindner of New Carlisle, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert and a sister, Marilyn McDonald.

A special thank you to Dr. Singh and staff at the Cancer Center and Community Mercy Hospice. God bless each of you.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday August 25, 2008 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
