John F. Moyer


John F. Moyer, 88, of Springfield died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008 in The Ohio Masonic Home.

He was born December 16, 1919 in Harrisburg, PA the son of Charles D. and Annie M. (Ditmer) Moyer.

He retired from Westinghouse Electric in 1982 as National Sales Training Director after thirty-six years of service. He is a 1942 graduate of Gettysburg College, fifty-year member of F & AM. He was a WW2 veteran serving as a Major in the US Army. For two years of his military service he served as a Military Government Officer in charge of setting up and supervising the operation of a complete economic system for a Kries in Germany. The work included reestablishment of public services, educational services etc. due to the fact that the former economic system had failed.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years Mary T. (Thompson) Moyer, two daughters and sons-in-law Denise and David Rasco, Tyler, TX, Marianne and Cory O'Donnell, Cincinnati, OH, four grandchildren Morgan Rasco, Julie Fender, Kevin and Brian O'Donnell, two great grandchildren Luke and Jadon Fender; two sisters-in-law Eleanor Sloan, Richmond, VA and Caroline Thompson, Mansfield, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements by Conroy Funeral Home.
