John F. Mitchell


John F. Mitchell, 79, of Springfield died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday March 11, 2007 in Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Edgewood, KY.

He was born April 10, 1927 in Springfield the son of George H. and Anna (Leopard) Mitchell. He owned and operated Mitchell Pharmacy for thirty-five years and later worked as a Pharmacist at Springview Developmental Center for thirteen years retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and a former member of St. Mary Church. John is a 1945 graduate of Catholic Central High School and a graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy; he also was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Survivors include five children and spouses; John W. Mitchell, Carol and Steve Metzger all of Springfield, Julie and Terry Young, Cincinnati, Ohio, Elaine and Robin Stanko, Dublin, Ohio, Nancy Mitchell and Mike Hatfield, Springfield, OH, seven grandchildren; Lindsey Madewell, Grant Young, Lauren Denza, Jonathan Metzger, Suzanne Metzger, Michael Stanko and Bethany Stanko, two sisters and brother-in-law Marie and Robert Calabrese and Ann Miller all of Springfield, several nieces and nephews including Eileen Arber, Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, January 2, 2007, brother George H. Mitchell.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church or the donor's favorite charity.
