Richard Gilbert Locke


Richard Gilbert Locke, 56, of South Vienna passed away Sunday evening, April 6, 2008 in The Ohio State University Medical Center.

He was born March 19, 1952 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Gilbert L. and Margaret A. (Olinger) Locke.

Rich was a 1970 graduate of Northeastern High School where he active in 4-H and FFA and was elected a State Officer. In 1975, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture Economics. He was a member of the AGR Fraternity at OSU. He was a member of the Ohio and National Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of the Ohio Staters and past board member of Tecumseh Land Trust. Rich will always be remembered as a life long farmer and prided himself in being a good steward of the land and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his father; his beloved wife, Myrna (Peters) Locke of South Vienna, Ohio; one daughter, Erin M. Locke of South Vienna, Ohio; two sons, Richard G. Locke II of South Vienna, Ohio and Warren G. Locke of Athens, Ohio; two very special step-daughters, Kendrea D. Taylor and Kara A. Fite both of South Vienna, Ohio; two sisters, Judy (Bill) Haggy of South Vienna, Ohio and Sandy L. Burkley of Centerville, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Michael Angelo of Wooster, Ohio; four nieces, Candy, Alison, Tess and Ashlyn and three nephews, Bret, John and Nolan.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Linda Angelo.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Reverend John Waite officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Tecumseh Land Trust, P.O. Box 417, Yellow Springs, Ohio 45385 or the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, 1659 Branham Lane Suite F 227, San Jose, California 95118.
