Richard E. Lindsay

Richard E. "Dick" Lindsay, 75, of Springfield, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Springfield Regional Medical Center, Fountain Campus. He was born February 24, 1933, in Springfield, the son of Donald Joseph and Violet Catherine (Rogers) Lindsay.

Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War having been stationed in Germany. After returning to the U.S., he was employed by the Springfield News-Sun as a platemaker, retiring in 1993 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and will be remembered as a gentle man who loved everyone, especially children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donald Franklin Lindsay, and a niece, Judy Moorman. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and best friend, June (Shields) Lindsay; his sister, Shirley (Jesse) Moorman of Springfield; his stepdaughters, nieces and nephews, Vicki Lindsay (Joseph Lewis), Kathi Lindsay, Mary Beth (Michael) Stelzer, all of Springfield, and Krista Lindsay of Westerville; Larry (Cindy) Moorman, Nancy Moorman of Springfield, and Lois (Daniel) Shultz of Columbus. He is also survived by grandchildren, grand nieces and grand nephews, Katie (Chris) Rahrig, Phillip Moorman, Christopher Moorman, Jacob Lewis, Lindsay White, Elizabeth "Betsi" Lewis, Jason Stelzer, Rachel Stelzer, Johnny and Jacob Shultz, and Noah and Lauren Bibbs; great grandchildren, Chloe Daniel, Carter Richardson, and Magdalyn White; a special sister-in-law, Jean Allen; and many beloved cousins and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Daniel M. Powell and Beverly DeBoard officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Because his grandson Noah's autism touched Richard's life, contributions in his memory may be made to Oakstone Schools, 939 S. State St., Westerville, Ohio, 43081.
