Russell William Lewis, Sr.


Russell William Lewis, Sr., 91, of Springfield passed away at 5:05 PM Monday, October 1, 2007 in Southbrook Care Center.

He was born May 21, 1916 in Springfield the son of Chester and Margaret Lewis. Mr. Lewis was an avid fisherman and Ohio State Buckeye fan and was a former member of the Moose. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during W. W. II and had been a self employed painter.

Survivors include six children: Donna Lewis, Maxine Stoops, Russell Lewis Jr., John (Cheryl) Lewis, Roger Lewis, and Virgil Lewis, a step daughter Marguerite Morgan all of Springfield, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren, two sisters Ruby Chiles and Anna Hinkle, two brothers Bob (Mavis) Lewis and Richard Lewis all of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives Martha Lewis, Edith Lewis and Edna Lewis, a daughter Phyllis Workman, a son David Lewis, twin baby girls, a step son Verl Workman, brothers Chester Lewis and Ed Lewis, a sister Audrey Nichols and his parents.

Friends may call in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Joe Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery. Mr. Russell was loved by all and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
