Betty L. Locke


Betty L. Locke, 63 of Springfield died Wednesday January 9, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center High Street Campus.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 2, 1944, the daughter of Adrian Kenneth and Janis Marie (Smith) Crabtree.

Betty was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, Red Star Lodge, Moose Lodge, and Elderly United. Her hobbies include knitting and making crafts. Betty retired from the Springfield City Schools as a teacher's aide.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Linda Kaye Locke; two infant sisters; and a brother Lloyd W. Crabtree.

Her survivors include her husband of 45 years John W. Locke, whom she married December 21, 1962; one son John W. & Pam Locke; daughter Annette L. & Kevin Gray all of Springfield; two brothers James E. & Kathy Crabtree of Springfield and Richard K. & Carolyn Crabtree of Newark; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren; two brothers in law Roy & Sally Locke Pamona Park, FL and Steven & Marilyn Locke of Piketon; several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will be Friday from 4-8PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services will be Saturday at 10:00AM in the memorial home with Rev. Mark Rucker officiating. Burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery.
