Orville J. Kimble


Orville J. Kimble, 82 of Springfield, passed away peacefully, on Monday, March 24, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - High Street Campus.

He was born on September 12, 1925 in Springfield, the son of Irving W. and Alpha (Brandenburg) Kimble.

He served our country in the United States Army from 1945-1947. Orville worked for Schaefer's Bakery for twenty-one years and then later retired from the Springfield Local School District after seven years. He was a former member of the Columbus Ave. United Methodist Church. Orville enjoyed the friendships he had at the Northridge United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Patricia (Armentrout) Kimble of Springfield, three daughters and sons-in-law: Becky and Alan Pester of Springfield, Jane and Kenneth Wood of Springfield, and Marianne and Greg Beaver of Maryland; one sister, Irmal Grubbs of Springfield, seven grandchildren: Jeremy Lucas, Holly Pester, Brian Pester, Daniel Beaver, Kate Beaver, J.J. Wirth and her husband Jason, and Juli Hickman and her husband Marc; three great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Evy, and Grady Wirth, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Durrah Carpenter.

Orville cherished his family and loved being at home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 6-9 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Ave. United Methodist Church 2967 Columbus Ave., Springfield, OH 45503 or the Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Rd., Springfield, OH 45503.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the caregivers on 2 South at the Springfield Regional Medical Center - High Street Campus, Dr. Robert Kneisley, Dr. David Monjot, Dr. Joseph Morman and the staff at the Oakwood Village Glaesner Care Center.
