Robert L. Johnson


Robert L. Johnson, 76 of Springfield, died at 9:42 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2009 in Community Hospital. He was born November 3, 1932 in Frankfort, Kentucky the son of Herbert and Mattie (Morrow) Johnson.

He had been employed as a machinist for SPECO for 38½ years retiring in 1991 and was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Dorothy (Mooney); one brother, Herbert Johnson, Jr., Springfield; one aunt, Ruby Purvis; one uncle, Arthur Morrow; in-laws, James Mooney, Margie Kennedy, Mary & Stetson Oster, Helen Mooney, Rita & Fred Wyen, Patty & Russ Pamer and 25 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Chester Johnson.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
