Mamie Jones


On October 26, 2008 an angel of the Lord came for Mamie Jones. She was born February 22, 1918 in Sparta, Georgia to Lillar Lawrence) and James "Jim" Stembridge.

She is survived by a sister; Mary Stembridge, a daughter; Annie Lou (Roosevelt Sr.) Kindle, a son; Winton "June" (Lilli Belle) Stembridge all of Sparta, Georgia; a daughter; Irene (Billy) Howell of Massillon, Ohio, and sons; Daniel C. (Pamela) Jones of Huber Heights, Thomas C. (Miriam) Jones, David C. (Delice) Jones and athe Rev. Steven Jones all of Springfield, Ohio. In addition to her beloved granddaughter; Dana Delores Jones of Akron, Ohio there are eighteen grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, husband; David Carson Jones, sisters; Ethelene Griffin, Lilla Bea Lewis, brother; Henry Stembridge son; Herbert Jones, a twin brother of Rev. Steven Jones.

Mrs. Jones retired from Community Hospital.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 12 noon-2 p.m. in New North Street A.M.E. Church, 901 S. Center Street. Funeral services will follow in the church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Christoher Ferguson oficiating. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery, Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11 a.m.
