Lois Gnau


Lois Gnau, 66, of Springfield passed away unexpectedly at 2:02 p.m. Sunday surrounded by her family in the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center.

She was born November 4, 1941 in Thacker, WV the daughter of William Ford and Helen (Stevens) Ford Hicks. She was a member of St. Joseph Church.

The joy of her life was her family and grandchildren and they are as follows: her loving husband of forty-three years James F. Gnau; eight children and spouses, Matt and Teresa Gnau, Centerville, OH, Terrence and Crystal Gnau, South Vienna, OH, Nicholas and Tammy Gnau, Michael and Lori Gnau, Kenneth Gnau, Patrick Gnau and Kristy Rife, Joshua Gnau and Jennifer Gnau all of Springfield, OH; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Kara, Benjamin, Hannah, Zachary, Ryan, Bethany, Lauren, Timothy and Meagan; step-mother Edna Ford, Princeton, WV; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Ford, King, NC, Phillip Ford, Princeton, WV; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Austin Day, Princeton, WV, Linda and Steve Davis, Huron, OH; step-sister and spouse, Sherry and Pete Wimmer and a step-brother Rusty Campbell all of Princeton, WV and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Harold Hicks, son Brian in 1975 and a daughter-in-law Michelle Gnau in 1996.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church.
