Corporal Jeremy Richard Greene


Corporal Jeremy Richard Greene, 24, of Springfield, died on Saturday, April 28, 2007 while serving with the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan.

Jeremy was born on June 19, 1982 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Richard and Cindy (Reisinger) Greene.

Jeremy graduated from Shawnee High School, Class of 2001 and enlisted in the United States Army in 2004 and did his Basic Training in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was then assigned to the 10th Mountain Division Alpha Company 3rd Bridgade 2/87th at Ft. Drum, New York before being deployed to Afghanistan in February of 2006.

He is survived by his parents, Cindy Greene (Mike White) of Oxford, Indiana and Richard "Rick" Greene of Springfield; two brothers, Chris Webster and Amy Basham of Dayton, Mickey Webster and Jenna Reffitt of London; three nieces, Zoe, Sierra, and Jordan; maternal grandparents, Armon and Nancy Bostic of Springfield; paternal grandmother, Shirley Greene of Springfield; special uncle and aunt, Todd and Jen Pelfrey of Urbana; other aunts and uncles include, Tim Bostic and Madonna, Robin and Steve Looney, Doug and Blossom Greene, David and Patti Greene, Billy Greene, Tammy and Chris Heaton, Tracy and Mario Grassie, and Tessie Fry; numerous cousins including Robbie Greene; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard F. S. Greene, Sr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
