Barbara Ann Gibson


GIBSON, Barbara Ann 74, of Springfield, passed away at home surrounded by her family Wednesday evening, August 22, 2007 following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Springfield on June 24, 1933 the daughter of the late Jerome and Thelma Kingery. Barb retired from the pharmacy of Community Hospital. She enjoyed spending her golden years with family, friends, and her beloved dog, "Buttons".

She is survived by four daughters, Debbie Garrity of Springfield, Barbara (Tony) Welch Boyer of Springfield, Nikki (Brent) Bair of Lancaster, Ohio, and Betsy Gray of Lorain, Ohio; a son, Timothy Gibson of Springfield; and six grandchildren, Douglas Harlow, Heather and Brandon Welch, Kelly and Meghan Gray, and Trent Bair. Also surviving is a brother, Ron Swope of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and three dear friends, Alma Truman, Ginny Simms and Phyllis Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by "Dad" Virgil Strawsburg, husband, James Waxler; a sister, Dorothy Browne; and two brothers, Bill and Richard Kingery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Deacon Norm Horstman of St. Raphael Church officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff of Community Mercy Hospice.
