Sallie Jean Ford


Sallie Jean Ford, 86, of Springfield, died peacefully Thursday, May 28, 2008 at Miami Valley Hospital while surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 10, 1922 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of William Leslie and Mary Elizabeth (Olds) Yeazell.

She was a graduate of Olive Branch High School. Sallie attended and graduated from Western Ohio Business College where she met and fell in love with William Ford, together they shared thirty-five years of marriage. They raised four children and grandchildren at Fordbrook Farm in Urbana. She loved nature, especially birds and flowers. Sallie was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, as well as a published author of two books, "The Squampus", a fairy tale and coloring book, and "Milkweed Farm", a collection of poems. She was a caring and loving person who has touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Sallie was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will continue to be a positive influence in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, William Ford; two sons, James Michael and John David Ford; and daughter, Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Kunkle.

Sallie leaves to cherish her memory and continue her love of life, Linda Susan Guthrie (Dennis) of Belleville, Illinois; two grandsons, Vincent Paul and Charles Raymond; granddaughter and caregiver, Susan Marie Peterson (Willie) of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Ashlea Marie, Willie "Billy" Foster, Jessica Naomi, Steven Foster and Rosetta Destany Nickole; grandson, Henry Harold Kunkle, Jr. (Carol) of Plain City, Ohio; grandson, William Patrick Kunkle (Shaun) of Tampa, Florida; great-grandsons, Jakob and Kaleb; brother, William Olds Yeazell; three sisters, Judith Dixon Rodriques, Dorothy Anne (William) Zugelder, Mary Towles (Lynds) Staring; numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

A celebration of Sallie's life will be held Monday, June 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 409 East High Street, Springfield with Reverend Charlotte Collins Reed officiating.

Family is being served by LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY.
