Garnet Fagan


Garnet Fagan, 92, of Springfield, beloved mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away at 11:45 PM Saturday, September 1, 2007 in Heartland of Springfield.

She was born November 6, 1914. Garnet had a lengthy career as a hostess at several local restaurants including Shultz/Ungerliders, the Park Terrace, the Scotts Inn and the Ramada Inn.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter in law Ann Vest, a grandson Robert ( Elaine) Vest, Springfield, grand daughters Diana Vest, Springfield, Pamela Rutherford, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, great grand sons Robert (Mindi) Vest, Springfield, Shaun Rutherford, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, Ryan Rutherford Howards Grove, Wisconsin, a great grand daughter Kristen Vest, Springfield, great-great grandsons Andrew Vest, Caleb Rutherford, Clayton Rutherford, great-great grand daughters Alexis Vest, Nevaeh Rutherford, Samura Rutherford, and special friends Phyllis Johnson (Garnets care giver), Brenda Wells and Garnets pet dog Muffin.

She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Huffman in 1995 and her son Donald E. Vest in 2003.

Funeral services will held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in Ferncliff Cemetery chapel with Pastor John Polack officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services in the chapel. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
