Richard W. Cartmell


Richard (Dick) W. Cartmell, 82, of Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Dick was born in Springfield the son of Elbert and Thelma (Smith) Cartmell on November 29, 1926.

He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Cartmell.

Dick retired from the City of Springfield in 1989. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge # 421 in Yellow Springs. He served in the Pacific Theater on the USS San Jacinto.

Survivors include sons; John Cartmell of Springfield, Joseph (Diana) Cartmell of Mechanicsburg, grandchild; Zachary Cartmell of Mechanicsburg, sister; Maxine (Tom) Junk of Springfield, brother-in-law; Robert Werner of Springfield and many nieces and nephews and special friend; Ruth Short.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Clos officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in McConkey Cemetery in Catawba.
