Rick E. Carney


Rick E. Carney, 59, of Springfield, died at 11:04 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in his residence. He was born October 30, 1949 in Springfield, the son of John and Martha (Rummel) Carney.

He had worked as a painter for the City of Springfield for 20 years and prior to that worked for Clark County for 15 years. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served in the Vietnam War and was member of Moose Lodge 536.

Survivors include his wife, Mary A. (Booth); three children, Angela Carney (Pat Titer), Gina (Jerry) Thompson and Jeff Booth (Brittanie Durst), all of Springfield; two grandchildren, Taylor and Samantha; two sisters, Kim (Ron) Pontsler and Robin Carney (Larry McAdams), all of Springfield and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

His parents preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Chaplain John Arnott officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
