Norman W. Cooke


Norman W. Cooke, 93, of Fairborn, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in Summerville at Fox Run. He was born on April 13, 1915 in South Solon, Ohio the son of Clarence and Ethel (Evans) Cooke.

Mr. Cooke farmed for over thirty years, and retired from the Mad River Green Local School District after nearly twenty years of service and was a member of the Central Ave. Church of Christ, Fairborn.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Leon and Karen Cooke of New Carlisle, two step sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Annette Kuss of Columbus, and John and Nancy Kuss of Columbus, one sister and brother-in-law, MarriAnna and John Shingler of Springfield, three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Ellis and Jean Cooke, Marlin Cooke, and Lloyd and Christine Cooke all of Springfield; two granddaughters and their spouses: Kelly and Mike Wilson and Krista and Jeff Rice; six great grandchildren: Mallory, Caleb, Tyler, Zachary, Cody, and Clare; numerous nieces and nephews, and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Olive Cooke, his second wife, Virginia (Roush) Cooke, two sisters: Evelyn Healea and Martha Kennedy; three brothers: Kenneth, Ernest, and Eldon; and one grandson, Jeff.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
