Melvin Joseph Clark


Melvin Joseph Clark, 99, of Springfield, died September 13, 2008. He was the son of James and Josie Clark, born in Columbus, Ohio on July 20, 1909.

He had a bachelor's degree from Capital University and a Master's Degree from the Ohio State University. His life was spent in secondary school education: teaching, coaching, and administration. Melvin served as a Naval Officer in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was an avid horticulturist with a special interest in orchid culture and tree grafting, also gardening.

Survivors are his daughter: Kay (Robert) Winters of Springfield, and son: Joe (Elinor Ann) Clark of Lynchburg, VA, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, and granddaughter: Michelle Winters Minuck.

A memorial service will be held at the Enon United Methodist Church (85 Broadway Rd, Enon, Ohio 45323) at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2008. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Methodist Church or Eaglewood Village (3001 Middle Urbana Road, Spfld, OH 45502.)

Adkins Funeral Home of Enon is assisting Melvin's family with his services.
