Mabel E. Chapman


Mabel E. (Tyree) Chapman, 101 years old, of Springfield, Ohio and formerly of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 15, 2008.

She was born on October 22, 1906, daughter of James Clifford and Rebecca Jane Tyree.

Mabel was a graduate of Olive Branch High School in Clark County. She married Orville C. Chapman, of Springfield, to whom she was a faithful companion for 44 years. She is best remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and an obedient servant of Jesus Christ with a membership at the First Baptist Church of Russellville, Arkansas. She appreciated and supported the work of Billy Graham and other Christian witnesses.

Devoted survivors include her grandchildren, Kenneth S. Chapman and wife Sheryl of California, Kevin T. Chapman and wife Ann E. Weber with their children, David, Daniel, and Timothy, of New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Susan Chapman of California; her grandson's mother, Faye Chapman of Virginia; sisters, Catherine Zink of Washington State, Betty Fuhrman of Kentucky, and Mildred Hanks of Springfield, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews and their families surviving who loved and cared for Mabel.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Orville L. Chapman; sister, Georgiana Johnson; and brother, Lawrence Tyree.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2 PM at Oakwood Village in the Community room, 1500 Villa Rd., Springfield, Ohio, with Pastor Bill Blaine officiating. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Billy Graham Evangelical Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC, 28291-0001 or a charity of your choice.
