Mary Carter


Mary Canter, 81, of Urbana, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Mary was born September 8, 1926 in Scioto County Ohio to the late Arthur and Avanell (Days)Wagner.

She retired from Mercy Memorial Hospital of Urbana, and she was a member of the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union. She married Dale Canter June 12, 1946; he preceded her in death December 7, 2004.

Mary is survived by daughters; Bernice (Tim) Starbuck, of Newport, TN., Edna (Sherman) McKellop of Urbana, Irene Renie Newland of Springfield, Mary Ann (Dewey) Casto of Urban, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers; Bill (Ethel) Wagner of Urbana, Arthur E. Wagner of Marysville, OH., sisters; Betty (Bob) Magill of Blanchester, OH., and Roberta Shields of Springfield, several nieces and nephews. Mary was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Canter, brothers; Joe and David Wagner.

Family to receive friends Monday, February 25, 2008 from 4 to 8pm in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME 2425 N. Limestone St.; where funeral service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Pastor David Vanhoose and Pastor Tom Amlin co-officiating the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to the Miami Valley Hospital Trauma Unit or the American Cancer Society.
