Louis L. Clark


Louis L. "Louie" Clark, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - High St. Campus.

He was born on July 12, 1926 in Springfield the son of Walter L. Clark and Edna (Chapman) Harrison.

Louis attended Enon schools as a child and went on to serve our country in the United States Army, Paratrooper, 82nd Airborne, during World War II. After the military he worked at International Harvester for three years and then began farming for over fifty-five years. Louie co-owned and operated Clark's Farm Market for more than twenty years with his family. He was involved with the Clark County 4-H Saddle Clubs, past member of the Clark County Fair Board, founding member of the German Township Fire Department, and attended the Tremont City United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Emma Gertrude (Pyles) Clark of Springfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jackie Clark of Springfield, one daughter and son-in-law, Candy and Dale Erlewine of New Carlisle; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Carol Bowsher, Sue Fischer, and Judy and Don Bivens all of Springfield; six grandchildren: Kyle and Emma Clark, Alex, Ryan (Sarah), Kaitlyn, and Kevin Erlewine; several nieces and nephews, step mother, Alice Clark of Springfield, and two sisters-in-law: Helen Clark of Springfield and Judy Clark of Huber Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill and Dwight Clark, and step parents, Walter Harrison and Leona Clark. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, William and Myrtle Clark, and aunt and uncle, Mary and Guy Noble who guided him through his childhood.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Walter Mock officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County 4-H Club.
