Glenn R. Cramer


Glenn R. Cramer, 85, of Springfield died Thursday, September 6, 2007. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 7, 1922, the son of the late Don and Esther (Johnson) Cramer.

Glenn was a 1943 graduate of the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Completing a 40 year merchandising career with Allied Stores, Glenn retired in 1985 as President of Wren's Department Store. He was a member of the Springfield Rotary Club. Glenn was an active advocate for mental health services, serving as a Trustee for the Clark County Mental Health Foundation and held various leadership positions within the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Clark County. He was an avid bridge player with a Bronze Life Master ranking, and a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Vivienne S. Cramer; four children, Dee (Jack) Rafferty of Houston, Texas, Michael Cramer of Springfield, and Pat Cramer and P.J. Cramer of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard (Themis) Cramer of Atlanta, Georgia, Mark (Mary) Cramer of Morton Grove, Illinois; and two nieces.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Darr and his staff for the excellent care given Glenn, and to the staff at Mercy Medical Center and Forest Glen Health Campus.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be held in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, 830 N. Limestone, at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 13, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to NAMI of Clark County, 224 East Street-Rear, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
